WCDA are working in partnership with: many local residents; the Partnership Group; Community Groups; Charities, Local Business’; Reading Borough Council; Local Primary & Secondary Schools; and the University of Reading.
They will ensure the needs of everyone living, working and attending schools in Whitley are identified by:
1. Opening a Community Cafe that is accessible to all, offering a safe place for all to meet with friends, meeting space for many organisations and the opportunity to engage in a number of activities and events identified by local people, as well as offering good coffee/tea lunches and cakes. All at affordable prices.
2. Carrying out Research programmes within the area to ensure needs are better met in the future. (Transport/Financial Exclusion/Mental Health)
3. Opening opportunities for children and young people to get involved with a number activities/events that they may not engage in otherwise.
4. Working with local people and partners to create community activities, events and trips, building confidence, encouraging new friendships, opening opportunities for volunteering and offering training courses to learn new skills, build self-confidence and aspirations for the future!
